Shahid Kapoor promotes vegetarianism in new PETA ad

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who was voted Bollywood’s sexiest vegetarian by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), will be seen urging people to turn vegetarian in a new ad of the animal rights group.

In the new ad titled ‘Chicks Love a Vegetarian’, a casually dressed Shahid is seen with two downy yellow chicks perched on his body, extolling the benefits of a plant-based diet. The ad is shot by ace photographer Atul Kasbekar

‘I love chicks… pigs, cows, fish, and all the other animals too. That’s why I turned vegetarian,’ said Shahid.

‘I am very happy being a vegetarian and I believe that it is the best way to be. The day I started believing in the fact that I would want not to kill animals for my taste buds.

Work will keep Bollywood’s star couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai busy on their fourth wedding anniversary April 20.

Abhishek says he will be busy promoting ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, releasing April 22, after which he will be off for a shooting schedule.

‘I don’t have a break at all. As soon as ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ releases, I will be going to Russia for shooting (Abbas-Mustan’s) ‘Players’. There’s going to be no break for the anniversary as I am going to be thick in the middle of promotions at that time,’ Abhishek told IANS.

The 35-year-old whisked off his wife to the US for a vacation last year. In 2009, the actors took a week off from the shooting of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’ and went for a holiday, while for their first anniversary, Abhishek was busy shooting in Miami for ‘Dostana’, and Aishwarya had joined him there.

The couple tied the knot in 2007 in Mumbai.

'American Idol' Exec Producer Says Pia Toscano's Elimination Is Not That Shocking

Nigel Lythgoe said nothing is wrong with Pia Toscano being eliminated from "American Idol" on April 7. Contrary to what most people believe, the executive producer of the singing competition thought the result was not that shocking because Pia was never close to the champion title.

"Number one, I know the results so I know she was never a frontrunner," Nigel said at the callback auditions for his other show "So You Think You Can Dance" in Las Vegas on April 8. He quickly added that he "was pretty upset" and "angry" upon learning that Pia was eliminated, "but the more I've sort of thought about it, the more I've calmed down, I've realized that at the end of the day, this is going to happen every week now because the talent is so strong."

Nigel further elaborated why Pia was kicked out of the show, "The fact of the matter is that it appears that Pia didn't connect with the audience as much as we maybe think she did. And she wasn't voted through. That's the fact of the matter." On why people did not take the elimination easily, he explained, "It appears that it's this huge drop because [Pia] has never been in the bottom three before, but neither was Casey [Abrams], neither was Paul [McDonald] last week. So every week it's going to happen that a really good singer goes."

On the same occasion, Nigel also defended judges' decision to use The Save for Casey two weeks before. "I agree with the judges saving Casey. I think Casey is unique, and really good for 'Idol', and doesn't just give us the same old singer every time; he gives us something totally different. I'm all for that," he stated.

Pia Toscano was dumped from "American Idol" during the live result show that revealed who were going to enter the top 8. The elimination of one of the best contestants quickly triggered comments from celebrities who watched the show like "Idol" alums Jennifer Hudson and Kimberly Caldwell.

She was recently reported to have signed to Interscope Records, but her representative has denied it, saying that no deal has been sealed as of now. The Texan native has said she is "looking forward" to the upcoming "Idol" tour.

Artist of the Week: Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert has become such a regular name at Academy of Country Music Awards since 2007 that at this year's ceremony Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley joked, "Thank you, Miranda Lambert, for winning this last year and not being in the category this year. That really helps a lot." Lambert astonishingly received nine nominations at Country Music Association Awards last year and won four of them including Album of the Year for "Revolution".

Although her latest album was released in 2009, Lambert continued to be a big contender for country music awards. At the recent 2011 ACM Awards, she won four out of six nominations excluding Entertainer of the Year. Her victory was revolving around the single "The House That Built Me" which also delivered her first Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

With the trophies all stacked on her shelves, Lambert is getting ready for the next venture. She has announced a new album to be recorded this spring in addition to a TV show project which marks her first involvement in scripted television. Lambert acts as a producer to an ABC Family show which would mirror her childhood in Texas.

Not stopping there, Miranda has also formed an all-girl trio called Pistol Annies. "I started this new project, and we're gonna debut on the Girls' Night Out [special]," the songbird told The Boot backstage at ACM Awards. "And I can't say too much about it, because I want it to be a surprise." The group features her pals and songwriting partners, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.
